- Did it start after a drop (or a previous screen repair)? A jarred digitizer connection or a low-grade aftermarket screen from an earlier repair points to hardware.
- Is it everywhere, or one spot / one app? One app misbehaving is software. One dead-or-crazy strip of screen that acts up in every app is hardware.

Fix 1: Clean the Screen, Dry Your Hands
A film of oil, lotion, sweat, or a few drops of water conducts enough to register as touches. Power the screen off, wipe it thoroughly with a slightly damp microfiber cloth, dry it completely, and wash and dry your hands. Sounds beneath your dignity; fixes real cases weekly.
Fix 2: Take the Screen Protector Off
Don't try to judge whether the protector is "probably fine" — peel it off and test bare for a full day. Bubbles you can see are only part of the problem; invisible flexing at a lifted corner, grit under the glass, or moisture that wicked underneath after a rainy day all cause phantom touches.
