Phone Activation & New Line Setup — Free In-Store Help
As an authorized wireless dealer since 2009, iFixForU™ sits down with you one-on-one to activate a new phone or open a new line, move your number, and transfer your photos, contacts, and apps. You walk out with a phone that calls, texts, and gets online — no guesswork, no pressure.
A few friendly notes before you come in: please back up your old phone first if you can (we're glad to do it with you), and know your Apple ID or Google password — a new phone often asks for it during setup, and a forgotten password is the number-one thing that stalls an activation. If you're keeping your number, don't cancel your old service until the new line is fully working.
Professional tools we use
The repair process
-
1
Bring what you need & choose a plan or carrier
Come in with your ID, your old and new phones, and your account logins, and we'll talk through what fits you — a fresh line, moving to a different carrier, or just activating a phone on service you already have. We explain the options plainly and never rush you into anything.
💡 Not sure which phone or plan is right? Just tell us how you use your phone day to day and we'll narrow it down with you.
-
2
Set up your SIM or eSIM
We provision your service either with a physical SIM card we insert for you, or an eSIM we scan and load right onto the phone — whichever your device and carrier support. This is the step that ties your phone number and plan to the new handset.
💡 eSIM keeps things tidy with nothing to lose, but a physical SIM is easy to pop into a loaner or backup phone. We'll pick whatever's simplest for you.
-
3
Back up & transfer your data to the new phone
We help you back up the old phone and move your contacts, photos, messages, and apps over to the new one using the built-in transfer tools. Signing into your Apple ID or Google account is what restores everything, so having that password ready keeps this quick.
💡 Keep both phones charged and on Wi-Fi during the transfer — a large photo library can take a little while, and that's completely normal.
-
4
Activate the line & verify calls, text, and data
Once the SIM or eSIM is live, we activate the line and then actually test it with you — a quick call, a text message, and loading a web page — so we all see it working before you leave. If you're keeping your number, we confirm the port has finished and calls are ringing on the new phone.
💡 Number transfers between carriers can take anywhere from a few minutes to a few hours; we'll let you know what to expect and stay in touch if it's still finishing.
-
5
Set up email, apps, iCloud & Google
With the line working, we help you sign in to email, re-add your apps, and make sure iCloud or Google backup, photos, and sync are all turned on so your new phone keeps itself safe going forward. We can also set up your voicemail and Wi-Fi calling while we're at it.
💡 If two-factor codes come to your old number, tell us — we'll make sure they'll still reach you after the switch.

In-store help & any questions before you go
Before you head out, we walk through anything that feels new and answer every question — big or small — so you're comfortable using the phone yourself. And if something comes up later, you're always welcome to bring it back in; we're your neighborhood shop, not a call center.
💡 There's no charge to ask — activation help and follow-up questions are part of what we do as your authorized dealer.

Frequently asked questions
What do I need to bring to activate my phone? +
A photo ID, your old and new phones, and your Apple ID or Google password are the essentials. If you're keeping your current number, also bring your existing carrier account number or PIN so we can transfer it smoothly.
Can I keep my current phone number? +
In most cases, yes — your number can move to the new phone or new line. The best way to keep it is to not cancel your old service first; bring your account info and we'll handle the transfer for you in-store.
How long does activation take? +
A straightforward activation with a data transfer usually takes about twenty minutes to half an hour. Moving a number between carriers can take a bit longer to finish behind the scenes, but you're free to go once we've confirmed everything is on its way.
