The repair process

   Intake: identify the button and the exact symptom

   We start by asking which button is affected (power, volume up or down, or the mute or side switch) and what it does wrong: totally dead, physically stuck, mushy with no click, or double-pressing. We also note whether the phone was recently dropped, took water, or had a screen or battery service, since those clues point us to the likely cause.

   💡 Bring any known passcode or unlock method — we need it to verify button functions after the repair.

   Rule out software before touching hardware

   Not every button problem is mechanical. We check for on-screen features like AssistiveTouch or accessibility gestures that may have been enabled, confirm the button is not disabled in settings, and perform a controlled restart or software update to rule out a frozen system. Roughly a share of 'broken button' cases turn out to be software, which we can often resolve at no parts cost.

   💡 If a virtual button (like AssistiveTouch) still works, your hardware may be fine — worth checking before any teardown.

   Power down, open the phone, and disconnect the battery

   Once we confirm the fault is hardware, we power the phone off and use gentle, even heat to soften the adhesive holding the screen or back glass. After separating the housing, the very first electrical step is disconnecting the battery, which removes the risk of a short while we work near the button flex.

   💡 Disconnecting the battery first is a safety habit that protects both your data and the mainboard.

   Remove the worn button flex and bracket

   On most modern phones the power and volume buttons are not standalone parts — they live on a thin flex cable with a small metal bracket that holds the physical caps and the electrical contacts underneath. We release the connector, remove any securing screws or brackets, and lift out the old flex assembly without stressing nearby antenna or camera cables.

   💡 Because buttons share a flex with other contacts, we map every screw and connector so nothing is reassembled out of place.

   Install the new flex cable and re-seat the button caps

   We fit a fresh, manufacturer-grade button flex and bracket, aligning the physical button caps so they sit flush with the frame and travel freely. Cables are routed exactly along their original path and every connector is seated with a firm, even press until it clicks home.

   💡 Correct alignment is what gives you that crisp tactile click — a rushed install feels mushy again.

6. 6

   Reconnect and test tactile click plus function

   Before any resealing, we reconnect the battery and test each button live. We check that the power button locks and wakes the screen, that volume up and down step correctly, and that the mute or side switch toggles cleanly — feeling for a firm click and confirming the on-screen response every time.

   💡 Testing before sealing means we never have to re-open your phone if an adjustment is needed.

7. 7

   Reseal with fresh adhesive and gaskets

   With the buttons verified, we clean off old adhesive and apply fresh sealing strips and, where the model supports it, new waterproof gaskets. This restores the housing's original snug fit and helps preserve whatever water and dust resistance the phone was designed with.

   💡 No third-party repair can guarantee factory-level waterproofing, but proper new gaskets get you as close as possible.

8. 8

   Final quality check and handover

   As a last step we run a full quality-control pass: every button, the screen, speakers, and charging are checked again with the phone fully assembled. We hand it back only when the side buttons click and respond exactly as they should, and we explain the workmanship warranty on the repair.
